Once again, Dorier & MCI Switzerland made a difference with the Geneva Red Cross’ Christmas baskets initiative.

Our colleagues at MCI & Dorier Switzerland offered 96 gifts to disadvantaged children at Christmas 2021, as part of the Christmas baskets annual initiative from the Red Cross.

All in all with this initiative in 2021, the Geneva Red Cross distributed 2,500 Christmas baskets to disadvantaged 8,500 people and families in the Geneva region. In addition to basic foodstuffs, the Christmas Baskets contain festive products (delicacies, beauty or care products, gift vouchers, etc.) and toys for children. 4,500 children, received brand new toys adapted to their age, bringing some more magic to their Christmas.

Baltimore Hunger Project

MCI USA Sales Solutions & Services talents supported the Baltimore Hunger Project twice in 2021 to support food-insecure children.

Baltimore Hunger Project provides food packages every weekend to food-insecure elementary school children in a compassionate and dignified manner. Our team in the Baltimore office has been a long-term supporter of this project.

The Sales Solutions & Services business unit held two food drives in 2021 and on two different occasions, spent a few hours assembling +1000 food packages for elementary school children to take home over the weekend. They also wrote kind notes to accompany the packages. Every bag of food includes a handwritten card.

We are proud of all our talents who participated and helped this local organisation carry out impactful work.

Little Big Night 2021

Little Big Night 2021

Little Big Night 2021

MCI Australia helped Little Big Steps to plan and execute a virtual charity event to raise awareness about what it’s like for kids living with cancer during the pandemic.

MCI Australia team coordinated the attendance of 2 high profile speakers – Maria McCarthy, a healthcare practitioner and researcher who has been exploring the mental health impacts on children getting treated for cancer throughout the pandemic, and Michael Crossland, a renowned speaker who shared his experience in overcoming cancer to achieve his dreams with the help of exercise.

After hearing the incredibly moving and inspirational stories from children who have faced cancer, the evening was rounded up with live music and dancing in living rooms across the world – as far as the Netherlands and South Africa!

The night raised $18,000 as well as over $9,000 in donated health watches.

MCI Australia provided all project management, operational support, video editing and design services at no charge to Little Big Steps – whom they have supported since inception in 2018. MCI Australia also leveraged their relationship with virtual platform provider, Delegate Connect, to provide the platform and technical support probono as well.

The MCI business development and operations teams all use the Little Big Night as a touchpoint for current and prospective clients to invite them to join the free evening. Several clients participated in the evening and were overwhelmingly positive of MCI’s support of such a special cause.

A huge congrats’ to the team for making this impactful night happen!

MCI Spain offers its blood for Halloween

MCI Spain offers its blood for Halloween

MCI Spain offers its blood for Halloween

On Halloween 2021, our team in Spain planned a very creative initiative while supporting a good cause.

They partnered with Child Community, a local NGO that saves food waste, to collect leftover tomatoes and peppers and created hand made jam.

The jams were bottled in heart shaped flasks, that represented MCI’s blood and passion and released for sale on their website during Halloween night.

All proceeds were then donated to the Red Cross to support their blood donation campaign.

Thanks to this very original initiative, the team:

  • Saved over 15kg of food that would have gone to waste.
  • Gave visibility to the local NGO Child Community while showing the importance of food recycling.
  • Donated all the profits to the Spanish Red Cross and, in turn, reinforced their long-time partnership with the NGO.
  • Raised awareness on the importance of donating blood.

Supporting Vida Norte at our internal meeting

When organising our own group-wide internal meetings, we want to leave a positive impact at the destination by giving back to a local charity programme.

For our live Directors meeting, that was planned in November 2021 in Portugal, we decided to support the local charity organisation Vida Norte. This organisation supports pregnant teenagers / women in fragile situations around Porto, Portugal. We had planned a charity race where participants would collect money for the association.

However, our meeting was unfortunately cancelled last minute due to a Covid-19 outburst. We still wanted to make a difference and donated € 1,500 to Vida Norte. Additionally, lots of the participants sent hygiene and beauty products as the organisation relies on donations to provide mums and their babies with essential goods throughout the year.

Maria Magalhaes, Responsible for Fundraising & Communication at Vida Norte sent us a thank you message:

“A huge thank you for this initiative!! Your support will allow us to continue our work and ensure a dignified and happy life for our families and their babies. Unfortunately, this action was not possible due to the new measures applied, but we are entirely grateful. Once again thank you very much, our hearts are full! Thank you for being a part of our life.”

MCI Spain & Portugal giving back to their local communities in 2021

Our Spain & Portugal agencies have been very active throughout 2021 to give back to their local communities!

Back in July, our agencies in Spain and Portugal held their Appreciation Day and dedicated part of this moment to give back to their communities. In Portugal, the team spent the afternoon volunteering with Red Cross Portugal preparing boxes of approximately 1,000 clothes to be distributed to a community in Northern Portugal. Meanwhile, our Spain team spent the afternoon cleaning the beach, and others in the countryside learning a little about sustainable cooking!

And they did not stop there!

In September, the Barcelona team collaborated with the Red Cross in their back-to-school initiative! They volunteered in supermarkets encouraging families to buy school supplies for disadvantaged children.

For the European Sustainable Development Week, they invited the owner of the Foundation “Aprofitem els aliments” (“how to take advantage of all kind of food”) who taught the team how to follow the 12 key points to identify a sustainable catering.

And finally, part of our Madrid team donated their blood to the Red Cross.
